The restoration of these classic Airstreams doesn’t begin or end until they’ve been touched by our very own Angel.

For the past six months, Angel Rodriquez has been our go-to refinisher – and so much more. His impact on our overall quality is priceless. His experience and know-how has dramatically raised the bar on more than a dozen renovations with top shelf refinishing techniques and unmatched results.

In 1999, he got his start painting upscale residences in Newport Beach. In 2005, he moved northward to Santa Barbara where he makes his home and continues to hone his craft.

Angel has painted more than 35 Central Coast residences for homeowners and local construction companies in the past six years. These days, he commits the lion share of his craft to HofArc’s Airstreams.

Angel Rodriguez is the first person to get their hands on one of our Airstream restorations. Step one is to remove the unwanted hardware, fixtures, carpet and old upholstery.

Step two, is prep’ing the interior surface, patching holes, and securing loose aluminum seams with new rivets. Step three, everything is wiped down with a degreaser, then he hand sands the walls. Step four, is taping off areas and finally he applies the first base coat of paint or stain. The unit is now ready for the other craftsmen to start their jobs.

Some Airstream renovations can take a couple weeks, to several months – installing cabinets, supplies and systems – but a HofArc Airstream isn’t complete until Angel gives it his final touch. He finishes it off with two coats of zero-VOC paint.

His finishes makes the craftsmen’s work sing. Whether he’s matching the original stain for restoring the cabinets to their original wood finish, or recommending custom colors for cabinets, his finishing touch is the icing on the cake.

“I like the way we can take an antique and bring it to a modern style and function,” said Angel. “Each Airstream has its own personality, its own unique appeal – almost like one of my kids! I can’t decide which one I like the best because they are all great.”

Speaking of kids, Angel has a beautiful family. He and his lovely wife, Veronica, are raising four children: Christopher (15), Yamilet (10), Arnold (9), and Angel Jr. (14 months).

For family fun during the warm summer evenings and weekends you can find them fishing or playing soccer in the park.

Angel has a personality that’s quick with a chuckle or a positive word, which makes every day a good day. Don’t let his quiet nature fool you – when it comes to quality he demands excellence. This blend of friendly-perfectionism is why his current and former clients stop by the HofArc work yard on a regular basis just to say, “Hi.” He’s a respected painter – and much more.
