Closet Crafters
Small Business is Big in America
Small family-run businesses are the backbone of America. Estimates are that small businesses employ more than 50% of American workers, and in the past three years more than 85% of new jobs have been created by small businesses.
To be sure, working with relatives isn’t for everyone, but more and more families today are giving it a shot. When it does work their clients and the national economy wins big. One of our favorite vendors, Closet Crafters, is a small family-run business, and we couldn’t be happier with their work.
When one of our vintage Airstream renovations calls for custom laminate, acrylic or wood cabinets and drawer fronts we call Closet Crafters. It’s a family owned and operated business that hits a home run when it comes to top quality, prompt delivery, fair prices and friendly service.
Similar to HofArc’s father/son partnership, Closet Crafters is a mother/daughter team – and it works. Closet Crafters is Joyce Hardison and her daughter Kathryn. They have been serving clients from Ventura, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles counties for the past 29 years.
“We’re proud to be working on HofArc’s amazing Airstreams,” says Joyce. “We’ve been with the Hofmanns from the start.”
“One of the main attractions to Closet Crafters,” says Wally, “is their focus on their environmentally friendly products.”
Closet Crafters offers formaldehyde-free PureBond hardwood plywood for their customers. “PureBond promotes healthy indoor air quality due to their non-toxic technology,” says Joyce. PureBond uses a soy-based adhesive – instead of potentially hazardous urea formaldehyde, and it’s all made right here in the US and Canada.
“In addition to our work for HofArc, we design custom closets, garage cabinets, home offices, entertainment centers, wall beds, pantries and any other storage product you can conceive,” she adds.
Their products are hand-crafted from quality woods, melamine or other durable materials to meet your design, organization and style needs and desires.
With so many closet options, why does HofArc choose to work with Closet Crafters? “It’s their superior service and craftsmanship,” says Wally Hofmann, VP of HofArc.
“We jump at any chance to work with the owners of small businesses,” adds Wally. “We love working with Joyce and her crew because they make the process easy. She’s quick to respond to an on-site consultation request to discuss our needs and take measurements.”
Joyce and her team of designers and craftsmen provide computer-generated drawings and we get a fast quote. After all details are agreed on, she schedules an installation with her shop manager, Israel.
“Their qualified and professional installers always show up on time,” adds Matthew, President of HofArc. “They’re quick to install countertops and cabinets in a careful and timely manner, and they even clean up when they are finished.”
