Capturing the Beauty of Adventure

We first met Vern more than 30 years ago when we lived in the Eastern High Sierra town of Mammoth Lakes, CA. I (Wally) was the publisher/editor of the local weekly newspaper, Mammoth Times, and one of my favorite photographers came from the camera of a soft spoken, wild-haired blonde named Vern Clevenger.

Over the years, we’ve decorated our homes and offices with Vern’s photography, and continue to share his exquisite images as treasured gifts with family and friends.

Vern’s passion for an adventure-filled life is captured in wilderness photographs from his legendary climbs in the Yosemite Valley and secret spots throughout the Sierra Nevada. As a skilled climber, he has notched numerous record first ascents during his 35 years of ramblings over the range’s rocks, peaks and trails.

His obsession for a true wildness experience is powerfully expressed in his collection of his images captured from around the globe. This self-described “mountain-man” has transformed into a devoted family-man.” Today, his wife Margaret, son Dylan, and daughter Sabrina share every step of his adventures and artistic journeys.

Today, the Vern Clevenger Gallery of Fine Photography is a whole-family enterprise. His studio is located in the heart of the Owens Valley community of Bishop, CA– a true Mecca of outdoor recreation. We invite HofArc’s followers to explore the world of Vern Clevenger Photography, where each image is a living moment interpreted through a deep understanding that few photographers possess.
