A red, white and blue Airstream reunion

I get a few questions about how well these restored Airstreams tow. “Aren’t they heavy?” some will ask. Well, they tow great. My 2011 Toyota Tundra tows trailers from 17 to 31 feet with ease. This past 4th of July about 50 Hofmanns traveled from all over the US to meet in Twain Harte, CA, which is a gorgeous place in the High Sierra above Sonora. (That’s my Dad and me in our blue US Flag T’s at the top and middle left rows). We towed our 25-footer easily more than 800 miles up and over the Coastal range, through the sizzling San Joaquin Valley, and into the Sierra foothills to our 4500′ elevation campsite. One of my aunts even wants one built for her.

My shiny 1978 Tradewind Airstream rolls smoothy along on the road to the Hofmann family reunion in the High Sierra.

Airstream remodelers, Wally and Matthew, take a break while traveling through California's Central Valley.

Cousins and in-laws compete in the ladderball toss championships.

Catching up with family news is a favorite pastime of the aunts.

Dad, Grampa and Matthew sport their patriotic colors.

Airstream living has provided me with low-cost, no-worries living and vacations.
